RMIT University, Industrial Design (Year 1) This project reimagines the traditional park bench through a sleek, futuristic lens inspired by the aesthetics of space age design. Departing from conventional designs, the bench features a continuous “one-line” structure that emphasizes fluidity and modernity, transforming a utilitarian object into a bold statement piece. Crafted with shiny, reflective cast aluminum, the design showcases a polished surface that highlights its sculptural quality. The bench is offered in a palette of vibrant, playful colors to bring energy and dynamism to public spaces. This material and finish selection not only emphasizes durability but also reflects the surroundings, integrating the bench seamlessly into diverse environments. Using Fusion 360, the digital prototype was developed with efficient workflows and refined modeling techniques. Through iterative redesigns, the project balanced ergonomic considerations with cutting-edge aesthetics. High-quality renderings highlight the bench in realistic settings, emphasizing its materiality, textures, and space-age inspiration. A professional design folio communicates the full development process, including concept sketches, technical drawings, and client-ready visuals. This park bench challenges the norms of public furniture design by blending functionality with artistic innovation, bringing a futuristic edge to community spaces and creating a visually engaging, comfortable, and durable seating solution.
